Sunday Comics

Keeping with my addiction to the Argentinean comic Patoruzu. This is from "Libro De Oro Patoruzu 1955." The artist signs "Molas." I don't know much about him (or her, *ahem*) other than the fact that his pages are sweet. I love looking at some of this South American stuff because its really fun to guess what their influences may have been. Molas seems to have a little Milt Gross, Bill Holman, and a dash of Kurtzman as some influences. But what do I know. Anyone have any other insight on this guy (or gal, *ahem*)?

Hey Mikey, could you read this and let me know if it's worth translating?

I have a few more Molas I'll post in the future. I hope ya dig.

A young Californian falling for the old Argentinean comics publishing industry (now defunct)...that's a weird sight!

You'r well oriented as Dante Quinterno's Patoruzú and Gullermo Divito's own comics magazine covered the Golden Age of the industry in the 40's and 50's. A contemporary genius like Nine only can publish in Europe.

Perhaps your best source may be Oscar Grillo another genius who lived his childhood in that time and is a longtime London resident. Write to him at any of his blogs; for instance:

PS: Lorenzo Molas (a guy) was notorius for his absurd and some how naif sense of humor. His mark where those little arrows pointing to some details as the "loose shoelace" at the bottom right of this picture.

You're nuts! (keep this way)
