Report from the Trenches @ SVA Feb 21st
In just a few weeks I'll be sitting on a panel at the School of Visual Arts talking about working in Animation. I'll be joined by Rick Lacy, Albert Pardo, Mike Carlo, and Maudy Tuseth.
I'm sure we'll be talking a lot about our own experiences in and out of SVA. It should be a pretty good event. I don't think it's open to the public, but if you're reading this and are not an SVA student/ alumnus, I'm sure you could find more info about attending the event through SVA's office of career development, 212.592.2370.
By pure coincidence, David Levy has just posted an interesting op-ed about the differences between the NY animation industry and the LA industry. This has really made me think a lot about my experiences on both coasts and how I can communicate some of what I've learned at the discussion panel at SVA. It should be an interesting discussion.

Is this event open to all, or just students? I'd love to go. I visited SVA back in November for an open house because I hope to attend there next year, I'd love to get some info and go back!
David - Thanks dude, we should hang out soon.
gr8ball - I'm happy you'll be coming to the panel. Spread the word. Mike and Al, "awesome dudes".. i don't think you should gte carried away :)
Niko - I posted the phone number for the Career Development office at SVA, you should try giving them a call to find ut if you can attend. I hope you can make it.
Yep, I'd go to anything that had that design on it. Wicked stuff.
Have fun telling youngsters to take the world by the tail, wrap it up and stuff them in their pockets...or live in a van down by the river. Extra points if you can bodyslam the podium and crush it into splinters.
Geez, Phil--it is so great seeing new work up here. Your "sketches" are amazing. Fluid, loose but solid.
uncle phil / bugs... Good luck... i wish i could be there.
Thanks for the blog link, Phil.. and I can't wait to see you at your SVA event. I'll tell my whole class of 45 SVA animation students to come! We'll pack the place.

Hi Phil,
I've been meaning to write to you sooner, but it was great speaking with you at the SVA panel. We spoke after the show for a bit, I've been interested in moving out to California, but it was great listening to you, and I'd definitely like to stay in touch with you in the future!
Regards,
Param
I noticed you mentioned Maudy... don't suppose you have his email address?
